MFM Mountain Top Life Daily Devotional 6 August 2019 By Dr. D.K Olukoya – From Lodebar to the Palace (I)
TOPIC: From Lodebar to the Palace (I) (Mountain Of Fire and Miracle Ministries, MFM Daily Devotional 6 August 2019)
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Psalm 70-71; Romans 8:22-39
FIRE SCRIPTURE: 2 Samuel 9:1-7
MEMORY VERSE: “And the LORD shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath.” – Deuteronomy 28:13a
The text today focuses on two main characters: David and Mephibosheth, the grandson of Saul and son of Jonathan. It is a story about the distress that is experienced which is caused by change. It is a story about an invitation that was accepted. It is a story about friendship, promises, grace, love, compassion, forgiveness and hope.
Very rare in the Bible do we see King David expressing so much kindness. David is generally thought of as the little shepherd who slew the giant, or committing adultery with Bathsheba or running from Saul. We remember him for being a man after God’s own heart, relocating the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem and his many wives.
We remember the incest in his family between his sons and daughters and his friendship with Jonathan, the son of Saul. It is this friendship with Jonathan that brings us to this story today.
We are certainly living in a time where all relationships are suspect and challenged. It is rare to find what may be called pure friendship.
Down in Lodebar, Mephibosheth went from living in the palace to hiding out with a family friend. Mephibosheth went from being a prince to living the life of a pauper. Mephibosheth went from being powerful to being penurious. It was at this time that God decides to intervene in all the affair of his life.
God used David to rescue him from bondage of poverty and affliction and restored to him all that had been taken from him. Mephibosheth was summoned to the palace and was received because of David’s deep love for his father.
David’s love was exemplary of the love of God. It came out of a merciful heart. Jesus Christ is showing us the same unconditional love today. If we are willing and ready, our Lord Jesus will redeem us. He will restore and return us to our Father’s table in peace. And we will have joy in our lives.
KINDNESS IS GOD’S REMINDER THAT WE MAY SEE THROUGH OUR EYES BUT HE CONNECTS THROUGH OUR HEARTS.
You will move from nothing to something, from zero to hero, and from grass to grace today.
- Lord, I thank You because You are the only one who can change my story to glory, in the name of Jesus.
- I reject every backward journey, in the name of Jesus.
- Let every agent of shame working against me be paralysed, in the name of Jesus.
- Lord, give me power for maximum achievement, in the name of Jesus.
- O Lord, give me the comforting authority to achieve effortless results, in the name of Jesus.
- Father Lord, give me the tongue of the learned, in the name of Jesus.
- Lord Jesus, give me an excellent spirit, in the name of Jesus.
